Saint Peter's Healthcare System

Saint Peter’s Healthcare System, sponsored by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Metuchen, is comprised of Saint Peter’s University Hospital; Saint Peter’s Foundation; Saint Peter’s Physician Associates; and the Saint Peter’s Health and Management Service Corporation, overseeing the CARES Surgicenter and Family Health Center. Saint Peter’s is a regional specialist in maternity, pediatrics, diabetes, oncology and geriatrics, serving the community since 1907. Saint Peter’s sponsors residency programs in obstetrics/gynecology, pediatrics and internal medicine, and is a major clinical affiliate with Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences. Saint Peter’s received its sixth consecutive Magnet® designation for nursing excellence from the American Nurses Credentialing Center in 2020.

The healthcare system is renowned for the quality and scope of its health and wellness services, all of which are delivered with care and compassion inspired by its Catholic heritage. Saint Peter’s is a state-designated children’s hospital and regional perinatal center with a nationally recognized Level IV neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). It is also designated as a primary stroke center by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services and is fully accredited by the Joint Commission, including primary stroke certification and its Gold Seal of Approval® for perinatal care certification. The hospital’s adult intensive care, neonatal intensive care, cardiac progressive care and pediatric intensive care units have earned the Beacon Award for Excellence from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses. In 2022, Newsweek magazine ranked the CARES Surgicenter among the nation’s Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers and number one in New Jersey and Saint Peter’s University Hospital among the Best Hospitals for Maternity Services.
